Andrew J. Spence

Andy Spence is a partner at Armstrong, Donohue, Ceppos, Vaughan & Rhoades, Chtd. He graduated from Hamilton College and the National Law Center at George Washington University. Andy specializes in the defense of health care providers, including hospitals and physicians, in medical malpractice and licensing matters. Andy is the son of a physician, he majored in biology in college, and he enjoys learning the medicine related to his cases. Andy has tried more than fifty jury trials in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He has also tried numerous non-jury trials and appeared before professional licensing authorities on behalf of his clients. He has secured many favorable jury verdicts and dismissals in favor of his clients under challenging circumstances. Andy has also argued numerous cases at the appellate level.  Andy is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and he has maintained an AV preeminent ranking in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards from Martindale-Hubbell since 2006.  Andy has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at The George Washington University. Andy is committed to thorough case preparation and to working closely with his clients to build the defense of his cases. Andy resides with his wife, Corinna C. Gilfillan, who is an international anti-corruption advocate, and their two sons in Bethesda. Andy enjoys long distance running and fly fishing in his free time.
