Ms. Hersey joined Armstrong, Donohue, Ceppos, Vaughan & Rhoades, Chartered, in 2022 as a partner. She represents hospitals, physicians, nurses and other health care providers, and professional medical practice groups in Maryland, from pre-suit notice of a claim through trial and any appellate proceedings.
Ms. Hersey has been practicing civil litigation, primarily defense, for her entire career. After clerking for the Honorable Steven G. Chappelle in Charles County she accepted a position as an associate at the Tornatore Law Firm in Crofton, Maryland. While at the Tornatore Law Firm, Ms. Hersey represented MAIF insureds in both bench and jury trials. She then worked for State Farm Insurance Companies Claims Litigation Counsel where she represented State Farm and its insureds in Circuit Court cases in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, St. Mary’s County, Charles County, Calvert County, Queen Anne’s County, Caroline County, Dorchester County, and Wicomico County Maryland. She handled complex auto tort as well as fire claims, including slip and falls, salon injuries, and dog bites. Her representation of State Farm included extensive deposition work, motions practice, mediation, creative problem solving, arbitration, expert retention and preparation, and trial. While at State Farm she completed her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter’s designation and was selected to participate in the Rising Star’s Program, which sought to increase the diversity and inclusion practices among State Farm Counsel.
Outside of work, Ms. Hersey is an active member and volunteer at the Junior League of Annapolis, and for her local athletic association where she coaches and helps with the management of fundraising efforts. She is also a Girl Scout Leader.
