Eric Rhoades (ADCV&R Partner) and Jonathan Barnes (ADCV&R Associate) obtained a defense verdict in a medical negligence case tried in the U.S. District Court for Maryland. The case was tried to a jury over five days. The Plaintiffs alleged a failure to timely diagnose a retroperitoneal bleed following the institution of anti-coagulation therapy which resulted in an iliopsoas muscle hematoma. Erica Mudd Secures a Dismissal in Calvert County

ADCVR partner, Erica Mudd, secured dismissal of an action on behalf of a group of health care provider defendants in a medical negligence case pending in the Circuit Court for Calvert County, Maryland. The Court determined that plaintiff’s Certificate and Report failed to meet the specificity requirements of the applicable statute and interpreting case law, and that plaintiff failed to show good cause to warrant an extension of time to amend.

Ms. Kincheloe was a Partner with ADCVR for many years until 2003, when she left to work as a Senior Investigator for the Virginia Licensing Boards, primarily the Virginia Board of Medicine. She received a BSN from Marymount University and her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. For many years in her prior professional life, she was a Certified Nurse Midwife prior to embarking on her second career in the law. Susan Boyce Obtains a Dismissal in a Maryland Board of Physicians Action

ADCVR Partner, Susan Boyce, secured dismissal of an action pending before the Maryland Board of Physicians. The physician was charged with unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine and sexual impropriety. Following a Case Resolution Conference before the Board’s Disciplinary Committee, the Board dismissed all charges against the physician.

ADCV&R Partner, Rob Maynard, recently obtained a defense verdict in a medical negligence case in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. The Plaintiff alleged that she sustained injuries to her popliteal vessels and surrounding nerves during a right total knee arthroplasty. Following a four day trial, the jury delivered a defense verdict in thirty minutes.

ADCVR attorney Robert Maynard received a decision from the Maryland Court of Special Appeals that affirmed a judgment from the Circuit Court of Montgomery County. Plaintiff had alleged negligence during the performance of a tonsillectomy. A defense verdict was rendered following a four day trial. Plaintiff’s appeal alleged juror misconduct.
