Professional Experience

Mr. Marter is a trial lawyer and has successfully tried dozens of cases to verdict or judgment.  His practice primarily involves the representation of healthcare providers in civil litigation.  He has represented several hospitals, multiple physicians, and other healthcare providers in the 10 years he has been in practice.  He also has an active personal injury practice.   

Mr. Marter practices in the State and Federal Courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia.  He regularly serves as a Mediator/Facilitator in the Maryland District Court.  His practice areas include the following:

  •             Medical and Veterinary Disciplinary Proceedings

While in law school, Mr. Marter was selected to the George Washington University Moot Court Board based upon his achievements in oral and written appellate argument.  Since he began practicing law in 1995, Mr. Marter has argued before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.  His reported appellate cases include:  Rivera v. Edmonds, 347 Md. 208, 699 A.2d 1194 (Md. 1997); District of Columbia v. Murtaugh, 728 A.2d 1237 (D.C. 1999); Hams of Southern Maryland, Inc. v. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, 148 Md.App. 534, 813 A.2d 325 (Md.App. 2002). 

Mr. Marter brings a familial knowledge and commitment to his medical malpractice and personal injury cases: his father is a General Surgeon, his mother is a Nurse, his wife is the Director of a hospital Radiation/Oncology department, one brother is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, one uncle is an Orthopedic Surgeon, and another uncle is a Radiologist.
